SYSTEMS THEORY AND PASTORAL LEADERSHIP SEMINAR
In Conjunction with the Congregation-Based CPE Class
In the Southern Tier and Northwestern PA

Summer and Fall 2010 Congregation-Based CPE announces a new continuing education opportunity for pastors and lay ministers who want to study family systems theory and pastoral leadership in a seminar format in the Jamestown, NY and Erie, PA area. The class will meet with the theory seminar portion of the Congregation-Based CPE group one half-day every other week from mid-August through mid-November 2010. The CPE group will meet two consecutive days every other week over this time period.

The Systems Theory and Pastoral Leadership Seminar is for:
+ Pastors, Seminary Students, Lay Ministers, and Lay Leaders in the Church
+ Ministers who want to study pastoral care and leadership from a systems perspective
+ CPE Alumni and Methodist Course of Study Participants who want to continue to apply systems theory and leadership to their practice of ministry


The Systems Leadership Seminar will enable you to:
+ View challenges and problems in the church from a broader, less anxious perspective
+ Apply systems theory to understand patterns of functioning in the congregation
+ Observe emotional triangles and learn to manage self in congregational anxiety
+ Gain self-awareness and strengthen skills in pastoral care and leadership


The seminar will explore a new way to understand congregational dynamics using the systems theory developed by Dr. Murray Bowen and applied to church life by Dr. Edwin Friedman. It will focus on pastoral leadership and systemic change in the congregation.

Applications are now being received for this systems leadership seminar in association with Congregation-Based CPE in the Jamestown, NY and Erie, PA area from August to November 2010.
Tuition cost is $500.
